Timber transport from mill to merchant

Sawn, treated and banded timber packs moved off the mill on open flatdecks, strapped square, sheeted where it matters, and delivered without the ends chewed up.

Timber is a forgiving load right up until it is not. Packs shift, bands snap, and a load that was square at the mill arrives skew and unsellable. Treated timber that gets rained on for 400 km arrives stained.

We run timber out of the Limpopo mills, including Diggersrest Timber in Tzaneen, on superlink flatdecks. Packs are blocked and strapped so the load stays square, edges are protected, and moisture-sensitive product is sheeted before it leaves the yard.

How we protect it

Securing and handling

Strong on the Limpopo–Gauteng corridor, including Tzaneen, Polokwane, Mokopane and into the Pretoria, Centurion and Johannesburg merchant network.

  • Straps sized to the packEnough straps to hold each pack independently, not one strap trying to hold the whole stack together.
  • Edge and end protectionCorner plates and dunnage keep strap tension off the timber itself so edges and ends arrive clean.
  • Sheeted where it countsTreated, planed and finished product is tarped. Rough structural stock is sheeted on request.
  • Mill routes we already runEstablished running to and from the Tzaneen and greater Limpopo mills into Gauteng.

Questions we get about timber transport

Do you collect directly from sawmills?

Yes. Mill collections are a core part of what we do, and we already run regular timber out of Tzaneen. Give us the mill, the loading window and the pack sizes and we will schedule it.

Is timber covered against rain in transit?

Treated and finished timber travels under tarpaulin as standard, and we will sheet rough structural stock on request. All loads also carry Goods-in-Transit insurance.

Can you carry long lengths?

The rear link gives roughly 12 m of continuous deck, and the front link a further 6 m, so standard commercial timber lengths are straightforward. If you are moving anything that overhangs, tell us the length up front so we can plan the load legally.

Other freight we handle

Most of our clients move more than one of these. One carrier, one rate conversation, one set of paperwork.

Ready to move this load?

Send the collection and delivery points, approximate tonnage and how it is packaged. You will have a written rate back, usually the same working day.
